Biography

Shihan Ahmad Pourmohseni was born in 1961 in Tehran, the capital of Iran, and entered the world of martial arts and karate during his teenage years. Alongside his martial arts activities, he completed training in parachuting and mountaineering up to the instructor level during his studies at the Military Academy.

As his professional path continued, and with the expansion of his Kyokushin Karate activities, he served as an instructor for the Ministry of Interior, the Military Academy, the Police University, the University of Medical Sciences, and several other training centers, playing a significant role in the development of Kyokushin within the armed forces and across various provinces of the country. As a result of nearly five decades of dedicated work, he has trained approximately one thousand qualified black belts in Iran, many of whom now serve as style leaders and active instructors.

In 1989, he obtained the official representation of Kyokushin Iran by signing a formal agreement with Honbu Japan and Sosai Masutatsu Oyama. The year 1990 marked a major milestone, as he was accepted into the Uchideshi class at Ikebukuro Honbu under the direct instruction of Sosai Oyama. In the same year, he became the only non-Japanese representative selected to join the organization’s Technical Committee.

In 1993, he was appointed Vice-President of the Middle East Region, and in 1996, with the establishment of the Shin-Kyokushin organization, he was elected to the World Board of Directors, serving for twelve years.

In 2015, he was assigned by the World Full Contact Organization to establish the Full Contact structure in Iran, and in 2018, he participated with the national teams in the first Full Contact World Championship in Osaka.

Over the years, Shihan Pourmohseni has participated in world and international Kyokushin championships in Hungary, Kazakhstan, Japan, Switzerland, Georgia and other Central Asian countries. His efforts resulted in two world championship titles at the 2016 Shin-Kyokushin World Festival.

Beginning in 2024, he became acquainted with the approach of Kaicho Sonoda, and in 2025, he officially joined the Kyokushin Sonoda Organization. He currently serves as the official representative of the organization in Iran and the Regional Director for West Asia.

Dozens of clubs in Iran, along with instructors and students in the USA, Canada, Turkey, Scotland, UK, Germany, UAE, Japan, and China operate under his supervision. Many black belts he has trained now serve globally as instructors and style managers.

Shihan Pourmohseni believes that Kaicho Sonoda, by combining the authentic teachings of Sosai Oyama with modern organizational structures, has outlined a significant path for the future of Kyokushin. With extensive development programs, especially in Full Contact, he believes that the Kyokushin Sonoda Organization will soon hold a strong and influential global position.

Shihan Ahmad Pourmohseni currently holds the 8th Dan rank in Kyokushin and continues his educational and administrative activities in Iran and the West Asia region.
